We interviewed an Indian person about their lifestyle.

大学院産業情報学コースで建築学を学んでいる川上です。現在、研究の一環として、在留インド人の方にライフスタイルに関するインタビュー調査を行っています。
My name is Kawakami, and I am a graduate student studying architecture in the Industrial Informatics program. As part of my research, I am conducting interviews with Indians living in Japan about their lifestyles.

今回は、江戸川区西葛西と中葛西にある東京インターナショナルパブリックスクール（TIPS）の校長を務めるRuchikaさんのご自宅にて調査をさせていただきました。
日本と似ている点と異なる点があります。例えば、私たち日本人も床の上に直接座りますが、日本ではちゃぶ台など低いテーブルの上に食器を置いて食事をすることが一般的です。しかし、Ruchikaさん宅では、食器を直接床に置いて食べるのが通常の形式です。
また、ヒンドゥーの神様が祀られた祭壇は、とても華やかで、日本の祭壇とは対照的でした。
当日は、夕食もいただきました。インドは地方によっても様式が異なるようで、興味深いです。ご協力いただきありがとうございました。

This time, we conducted the interview at the home of Ms. Ruchika, the principal of Tokyo International Public School (TIPS) in Nishi-Kasai and Naka-Kasai, Edogawa Ward.
There are similarities and differences between India and Japan. For example, Japanese people often sit directly on the floor, but it’s common in Japan to eat meals on low tables, such as chabudai. At Ruchika’s house, however, it’s the usual practice to place dishes directly on the floor to eat.
Additionally, the altar dedicated to Hindu deities was very ornate, contrasting sharply with Japanese altars.

That day, we were also treated to an Indian-style dinner.
India seems to have different lifestyles depending on the region, which I find fascinating.
